FRANCIS Barry Matthewman (Barry)

FRANCIS Barry Matthewman (Barry), of Frith Bank, Boston, has died in Nottingham City Hospital following a long illness. He was 74.

Born at Frith Bank, he lived in this area all his life.

A married man, he leaves his wife Gladys Mary Matthewman, sister Sylvia May and brother Richard Matthewman.

Mr Matthewman completed his National Service with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, reaching the rank of Sergeant. During his service, he spent time in Cyprus.

He was a precision engineer with Fisher Clark, then Norprint. He retired in 1995.

Mr Matthewman enjoyed model making – with steam engines his speciality – wood carving and walking.

His funeral, officiated by the Rev Rosemary Taylor, was held at Boston Crematorium and was followed by cremation.

Chief family mourners were: Gladys Mary Matthewman (wife), Sylvia May (sister), Richard Matthewman (brother), Edena Matthewman (sister-in-law), John May, Norman Dawson, (brothers-in-law), Frank and Joyce Dawson (brother-in-law and wife), Dorothy and Derek Meeds (sister-in-law and husband), Juliette Phipps, Sarah Abrams (nieces), Simon Phipps (nephew).
