Mrs Mabel Askey

MABEL Askey, of Comer Close, Boston, has died at Pilgrim Hospital following an illness.

She was 89.

Born in Boston, Mrs Askey spent her whole life in this area.

A widow, she is survived by sons Gerald, John and Robert Askey and daughter Pamela Smalley.

Mrs Askey was a supervisor for J. J. Beaulah, Boston, and then followed in the same capacity for Lockwoods Foods.

She received a long service award for her work and retired in about 1980.

She enjoyed knitting, crosswords, quiz shows on television and caravaning around England with her late husband George.

She was a member of Richmond House Monday Lunch Club and was an avid fan of ballroom and sequence dancing.

Her funeral was held at Boston Crematorium and was followed by cremation. The service was officiated by the Rev Penny Green.

Chief family mourners were: Gerald and Maureen Askey, John and Kate Askey and Robert and Jean Askey (sons and daughters-in-law), Pam and Aubrey Smalley (daughter and son-in-law), Jeremy Askey and Wendy (grandson and partner), Andrew, Antony, Shaun, and Trevor Askey (grandsons), Nicole Askey and Mark (granddaughter and fianc), Angela and Adrian Clifton, Denise and Simon West, Debra and Simon Pointer and Sharon and Gary Wells (granddaughters and husbands), Ian and Adela Smalley and Carl and Cathryn Askey (grandsons and wives), Jack, Sam, Ben, Nicole, Chloe, Scott and Zoey Askey, Holly and Ryan West, Jack Faulkner, Alfie Wells, Grant and Liam Bowman (great-grandchildren), Janet and Derek Adamson (niece and husband), Malcolm and Jenny Troughton (nephew and wife), Pauline Leverton and Lorraine Mullins (nieces), Paul, Adam and Mark Mullins (great nephews) and Abigail and Simon Jackson (great niece and husband).
