* HAVING attended Party in the Park on the Friday night and Saturday afternoon and evening, I would agree that it was a great success.
However, I would like to say that I think one of the major reasons for numbers being so drastically down on two years ago was the fact that the CAMRA tent was not available.
The Black Bull Kirton did a fair job, but vast numbers of real ale fans simply stayed away.

The CAMRA tent is normally full-to-bursting and three deep at the bar, despite vast numbers of volunteers manning the bar; whereas the beer tent this year was usually pretty empty.

My own brother normally comes over by train from Nottingham with about six or eight friends, but the absence of the CAMRA tent made them decide not to bother.

Also, to be told on Saturday tea-time that there was no dry white wine, was rather disappointing.
No spirits were available – OK, so they aren't with CAMRA either – but to have no variety of wine available so early in the weekend either, I thought was pretty poor.

Also, the choice of beer was diminishing and, I understand, had run out completely on Saturday night! Perhaps they re-stocked for Sunday? Frankly, it was lucky numbers were down.
Having said all that, I enjoyed my time there. It was also good to see a police presence.

I don't have any problem with the £2 entry fee – some people will moan, but it seemed to run smoothly and the price is fair.
Overall, I'm looking forward to next year.
