24/09/08 - 'I went from picking potatoes to flying planes... all thanks to BGS'

Through your pages I would like to express my utter dismay and disgust at the events unfolding at Boston Grammar School.
That place took me from being a potato-picking lad of 11 to being number one on the senior captains list in British Airways thirty odd years later.
Nothing else but the grammar school school system as we have known it could have provided me with the opportunity to do this.
It now seems that a
self-serving clique has staged nothing less than a coup against the youth of Boston and in a manner that defies democratic accountability.
The people involved would be more at home reviewing the troops from the top of Lenin's Mausoleum than in pretending to further the career opportunities of the boys and girls of the Boston area by attempting to close the school and hosting the federated school at the High School.
Very unLincolnshire-like. I would have been put into detention by Stan Cawthorne for making up that word.
The educational establishment that is carrying out this vandalism needs to be put in detention of a more permanent sort.
