YET again I read in your paper on May 7 about the disgraceful way Boston Bypass councillors are treating the citizens of Boston.
I refer to the arbitary decision to close the car park at Tunnard Street while the May Fair is in town.
What is even more appalling is that when Look North covered the story, the council did not defend their action.
Boston Borough Council sai
d there was no-one available for comment, but is this just an admission that they can't defend their actions?
While we are on about the May Fair, has Boston Borough Council given any thought as to how the new town bus service will operate safely next year when the May Fair is running, not to mention every Wednesday and Saturday when the market is in full swing?
We can only think the council will dream up ways of resolving this problem, like suspending services; having a person walk in front of each bus telling people to get out of the way; re-routing the buses – or will the councillors just scratch their heads and say 'another fine mess WE have got you in to'?
I have always been an advocate of public transport, and I also believe that when you get things wrong, you should apologise.
Some of these developments seem to be railroaded through with little thought for the long-term implications.
One of the most telling comments I have heard in the last week is the woman from Tunnard Street who said on Look North 'if they won't listen, we will use the ballot box'.
