CINEMA REVIEW: Wreck-It Ralph (PG)

Wreck-It Ralph

Wreck-It Ralph

Boston Grammar School pupil Joe Baxter reviews the latest film from Disney, Wreck-it Ralph.

Wreck-It-Ralph is indeed an oddity. Whilst I have seen many films that are better made, I cannot remember the last time I have had so much fun at the cinema.

The film revolves around Ralph, who is a bad guy in a video game, but for once just wants to be good, thus taking him on his adventure, and like I said, I have not had this much fun at the cinema in a long time. This film had the charm and heart that many films (be they animated or not) are sincerely lacking in, which is perhaps I was able to look past some of its flaws, and just enjoy the film.

But the performances are what makes this film reach its peak, with the chemistry between John C. Reilly (Ralph) and Sarah Silverman (Vanelope), which acts as the main centre for character development within the film and it wasn’t until a certain point within the film when I realised something. I realised that I truly cared for these characters, and whilst I wasn’t moved to tears like Toy Story 3, achieving something of that quality is an aim every film should set its sights on.

A film that is not perfect, but I can guarantee that you will enjoy every last second of.
