A talented team of young performers from Kirton showcased their singing skills by taking part in a concert at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena.

Pupils from the primary school’s choir took part in a Young Voices event on Thursday which saw about 6,000 children from across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire join forces to wow an audience of proud parents.

The children sang a variety of tunes such as Electricity by Elton John, a 70s disco medley, a rock medley and a pop medley featuring hits from artists such as Olly Murs and One Direction.

Connie Talbot, who shot to fame on Britain’s Got Talent, was the special guest performer, singing Beatles classic Let It Be with the children.

Teacher Lorna O’Dwyer, who accompanied the choir to the concert with teaching assistant Ashley Cooper and governor Rachel Goodman, said: “The children have been working hard on learning the songs since September and were really excited to be able to perform them at such a fantastic venue.

“It was a great experience for everyone involved.”

Young Voices is the UK’s biggest series of school choir concerts.
