FOUR descendants of a Boston family met for the first time on the weekend thanks to The Standard.

At a special history day in Stickney village hall, the long-lost relatives were joined by many visitors who browsed more than 800 old photos, documents and maps dating back to the 1800s.

In July we featured an article about reader Jayne Knight who was looking for descendants of her family – and printed pictures of her father and uncles with an appeal for information.

In the weeks that followed several people contact us to say they were related to the well-known Boston family.

Barbara Thompson (nee Knight), of Boston and Marie Roe (nee Knight) of Spalding, were revealed to be Jayne’s second cousins, once removed. Sue Elleray, of Wyberton, had been looking into the Knight family whom her late husband John was a descendant of.

“People have already said they can see a similarity between us,” said Jayne, of Lincoln. “It was a great day with so many displays and things to look through, the stickney history group did a great job transcribing the old documents.”
