Feast of classics on the way

Wednesday, 9.30am - A CELEBRATION of English classical music comes to a variety of venues in the county over the next three weekends.

The Lincoln and Lincolnshire International Chamber Music Festival will see twenty concerts on the theme Home and Abroad.

Venues range from churches and colleges to village halls and stately homes.

Artistic director of the festival is Ashley Wass, the acclaimed Lincolnshire-born pianist, who will also appear in as many of the concerts as can be fitted into a hectic schedule.

The opening event will be at 7.30pm on Friday (August 22) at Lincoln Drill Hall, with The Hermitage Trio, Martin Roscoe and Ashley Wass performing works by Holst and Beethoven.

On Sunday (August 24) at 3pm Ashley is joined by Robert Plane at All Saints Church in Moulton.

Further concerts feature young folk star Bella Hardy at Minting Village Hall (August 31) and a concert by Maxim Rysanov and Ashley Wass at Tattershall's Holy Trinity Church (September 6).
