Thursday, 1.30pm - COUN Richard Austin – the leader of Boston Borough Council – is launching a new political party.
After helping to found the Boston Bypass Independents which claimed power at the Municipal Buildings little more than 12 months ago, he is now aiming to storm Lincolnshire County Council's Newland offices.

"There is deep disillusionment with the old politics – Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat," said Coun Austin.

"People just do not trust them – they do not answer to local people and they have failed to deliver practical policies that help people. Lincolnshire deserves better."

And so Lincolnshire Independent – Lincolnshire First! is the party Coun Austin believes we deserve.

Coun Austin, who is already a Boston South representative on Lincolnshire County Council, has formed the group with four other disillusioned politicians: Marianne Overton (Branston and Navenby), Chris Brewis (Sutton Elloe), Mark Horn (Bourne Abbey) and Mike Williams (Grantham East).

He will take on the role of treasurer.

Party chairman Coun Overton declared: "This is an exciting time in Lincolnshire – a new political force is emerging."
