A BOSTON-born TV casting researcher, responsible for recruiting contestants for an upcoming E4 show, is making it a 'personal crusade' to get her local Lincolnshire towns featured.
Lucy Weston is appealing to hairdressers across the Boston and Skegness areas to audition for a programme entitled Britain's Best Hairdresser.
"I think Lincolnshire is generally under-represented on television and local talent doesn't get the media attention it deserves," said Lucy, 33.
"I love Boston as it was where I was born, where I went to college and regularly solicalised with friends. It would be fantastic to see local people there featured on the show as I think it would give the town a real boost.
I have lived most of my life in Skegness too so I'm making it my personal mission to put both towns on the map. I urge all talented hairdressers from the area to apply now."
Lucy, who coincidentally lived in the borough of Barnet for six months, said she hasn't been so impressed with London hairdressers since moving there in 2005:
"They are ridiculously expensive here and you don't really get that friendly community spirit of smaller town hairdressers where you can have a proper gossip over a nice cuppa."
Lucy, an ex student of Boston College and Earl of Scarborough High School, Skegness, moved out of the area to work as a researcher on the Jeremy Kyle Show and the Trisha Show before leaving television to write for celebrity magazines such as Heat and OK!.
"I then decided to stick my fingers in a few other media pies, which brought me to this job as a casting researcher on the Great British Hairdresser," she said.
"The show looks really exciting as it's basically going to be like Britain's Next Top Model - but with hairdressers – and hopefully some from Boston!
She added: "I love coming home as it's so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I also really miss bumping into people down the pub. That never happens in London and it's what I love most about Boston and Skegness."
The Great British Hairdresser is a brand new 10-part series featuring celebrity hairstylist James Brown who will search for 'exciting new hairdressing talent'. It is due to be shown on E4 early next year.
Auditions take place in Manchester this Sunday, August 8, and London on Sunday August 15.
