Wednesday, 10:30am - BOSTON police have issued so-called 'boy racers' a final warning following an increase in the number of complaints.
The town's Neighbourhood Policing Team is pledging "robust action" against young motorists who have been gathering regularly in the Asda car park, in Sleaford Road.
Pc Martyn Chambers, who heads up the team, said the youths have been causing inc
reasing concern, meeting most evenings, playing loud music, revving engines, doing handbrake turns, and racing around the area.
"The activities are causing a real noise nuisance amongst local residents," he said.
"But in addition, police are concerned that shoppers at Asda, which is open 24-hours a day, could be at risk.
"Asda attracts customers around the clock and we are deeply concerned that this type of 'boy racer' activity in a store car park is completely inappropriate and very dangerous."
"A life could be at risk if this behaviour continues," he added.
In response the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be increasing patrols of the area, Pc Chambers said.
In the past, officers have gone as far as seizing a car belonging to a nuisance-causing motorist.
Anyone who has their vehicle seized will have to pay a fine of £150, plus £20 per day until it is released.
"Meeting up for a chat with friends we have absolutely no problem with," Pc Chambers said. "However, public car parks are not the place to play loud music, rev engines, carry out handbrake turns and race vehicles.
"It is incredibly irresponsible, anti-social and highly dangerous for those involved, as well as members of the public who happen to be in the area at the time."
