Thursday, 12pm - JUST days before auditions were about to begin, a Boston theatre group has lost the rights to stage its autumn play.
The Boston Playgoers Society was due to perform An Inspector Calls at Blackfriars Arts Centre in November.
However, with auditions just days away, the amateurs learned they had lost the licence to perform the J.B. Priestley play to a professional company.
Members of the society – which celebrates its 80th anniversary in October – have spoken of their disappointment but insist a show will go, just not that one.
Chairman of Playgoers Paul Gibson said: "We are all disappointed but still enthusiastic about what play will come in its place.
Replacements currently being considered include Blithe Spirit, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Woody Allen's Play It Again Sam.
The show, whatever it is, is due to run from November 12-15 at Boston's Blackfriars Arts Centre.
