Friday, 11.15am - EVERY year seven pupil at St Bede's Catholic Science College has been learning a musical instrument for free in the hope of developing a school band.
The college has been working in partnership with the Lincolnshire Music Service for the scheme, which is a transition pilot of the Government's Wider Opportunities programme at Key Stage 2.

It means the youngsters have had whole-class tuition for at least one term during the last school year, led in partnership between Emma Bristow, the subject leader for music, and Kay Hart, a specialist from the music service.

Seventy students have been learning to play brass, woodwind, drums or bass guitar.

The ultimate aim for the scheme is to develop a band and create a tradition for playing a range of musical instruments.
