Monday, 2pm - DO NOT smoke in our hospitals… that's the reminder from United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Smoking was banned in all hospitals, the grounds, and any vehicle owned by the trust in December 2006 as part of a national campaign.

Smoking is a cause for many hospital admissions each year, but the main aim of the policy is to ensure no one is exposed to second-hand smoke and to offer visitors and workers a safer and healthier environment.

Patients can be put at greater risk of complications following surgery and smoking can delay wound healing and increase the risk of infection.

Non-smokers who breathe other people's tobacco smoke are exposed to the same 4,000 chemicals that a smoker inhales – making it the single largest cause of death and disease in England.
