A PET store has proven to be a pedigree chum to charity with a £5,000 donation to a dog kennel.
Pets at Home charity Support Adoption for Pets has given the money to the Great Dane Society, based in Stickney.
Kennel manager Kevin Wilson and volunteer Kathy Jacobs went to the store in Queen Street, Boston, to pick up the cheque along with two of the Great Danes the society cares for, Jeffrey and Molly.
Mr Wilson said: “Not many people adopt a lot before Christmas and we’re full up at this time of year so it’s come at a good time.”
The Great Dane Society has been active for almost 11 years and takes in unwanted dogs to re-home and care for.
The money will be used to help with vets bills, food and heating.
More than 1,200 dogs have been helped to find new homes by the society which has 600 members and 200 home checkers.
Support Adoption for Pets has raised more than £1 million in the past year which has been used to provide support for animal charities and re-homing centres across the UK.
