HOME safety for vulnerable families in the Boston area has been boosted by a donation from a local housing association.

Boston Mayflower has donated £500 to Home-Start Boston as part of its Community Champions Awards scheme.

The money will be put towards a pilot project called Home Safety – to buy equipment such as fire guards and stair gates for ‘families in need’.

Home-Start’s scheme manager Judi Kay said: “Financial assistance for home safety equipment is only available for families under certain stringent criteria.

“Vulnerable families supported by Home-Start, who do not meet this criteria but are experiencing financial difficulties precluding them from purchasing vital safety equipment, may now be assisted through this project.”

Boston Mayflower’s Community Champions Awards scheme allows its tenants to reward groups and organisations which perform outstanding work for the community.

Home-Start also praised Mayflower for giving them a home at fenside Manor in Boston.

Judi said: “Mayflower came to our rescue in July 2011, and helped us out of a very difficult position.

“They let us base ourselves in an office at Fenside Manor – and their staff have made us feel very welcome since.”
