Boston-born Rio gold medallists Crista Cullen and Hannah Macleod have landed back in Great Britain to an ‘awesome’ reception at Heathrow airport.
Crista Tweeted a selfie with her teammates saying: ”#GreattobeBAck... Thanks so much for the amazing reception at Heathrow this morning! Was just awesome.”
Crista, and teammate Hannah, helped the GB Hockey team to its first Gold medal ever during a dramatic match against the Netherlands on Friday night which ended in a shootout - with Crista scoring during normal time.
Crista and Hannah were both born in the town, before moving away.
For Crista, who still has family in the area, it was a weekend of double celebrations as she turned 31 on Saturday.
In total, four members of the victorious team hail from Lincolnshire and the county council is considering how best to mark the achievement.
