THE Coronation Street cobbles will be coming to Freiston this winter, as the village plays host to former star Bruce Jones.
The actor, who used to play neighbour-from-hell Les Battersby, will be at the official opening of the village’s Christmas Tree Festival and Yuletide Fair, due to take place at St James’ Church on December 10.
Both the festival and the fair will run on Saturday and Sunday and will offer visitors the chance to enjoy some festive fun ahead of the big day on December 25.
The events will help to raise money towards fixing the church following a number of lead thefts in recent months.
Based around the theme of Christmas Around the World, some 20 decorated trees will be on show for the weekend, surrounded by stalls selling Yuletide gifts and treats. The trees, which have been decorated by members of the community, have been donated in loving memory of Jane Elsam.
The events will kick off at 10am on Saturday.
