BUDGET: Join our call to change council’s mind over parking

WE’RE calling on our readers to support our campaign against Boston Borough Council’s car park price hike.

WE’RE calling on our readers to support our campaign against Boston Borough Council’s car park price hike.

We accept that the council has to make savings in light of tough cuts to the funding it has received from the Government and appreciate this is no easy task.

However, increasing parking charges will hit shoppers and businesses in their pockets at a time when people have got little or no cash to spend.

We’d like the council to look again at the plan but – if it really has no choice but to increase fees – we ask that disabled drivers, who currently park for free, are given double the time for the amount they pay.

Many Blue Badge Holders need to spend longer shopping because of mobility issues and we feel that if they are asked to pay the same rate as everyone else they will in fact end up paying even more.

Please show your support for our stance by filling in the coupon oin this week’s Boston Standard and dropping it into our reception at 5-6 Church Lane, Boston.
