A BOSTON sex shop says the soaraway success of erotic novel 50 Shades Of Grey has helped bring about a big boost in trade.

Pulse and Cocktails on Emery Lane believes many women who have never been to a sex shop in their lives are being tempted to put aside their inhabitions after being inspired by the deeds of the book’s character Christian Grey.

The chain reckons sales of bondage items and sex toys have trebled in the past fortnight.

Sally Boothby, Pulse & Cocktails, Director, 31 said: “It’s incredible how many women are visiting the store for the first time, as a direct result of reading these books.

“It’s as though women have had a new lease of life and are discovering a new and exciting side to their sex lives.

“We are delighted with the positive response we have had from customers about the store and the selection of products we offer.

“Customers have commented on how female friendly the store is and they never realised how much fun they could have shopping in a sex shop.”

The 50 Shades trilogy has sold about 20 million copies worldwide, setting the record as the fastest-selling paperback of all time, beating the Harry Potter series.
