8,000 homes without water after storm

ABOUT 8,000 homes around Frithville were without water for a short period last night (Wednesday) after a violent storm affected supply.

Residents were cut off for around 20 minutes between 8pm and 9pm, because the pumps had been blown out by the storm earlier in the evening.

Engineers from Anglian Water had to be sent out to fix the problem manually, and the supply was restored shortly afterwards, a spokesman for the company said.
