The new owner of Boston’s Assembly Rooms hopes two independent firms will move into the former toilets at the landmark building.

Matt Clark confirmed recently that he hoped to transpform the former public loos into space for two units for start-up businesses.

A planning application had not yet been submitted when he spoke to The Standard, but he said he was planning on putting it in soon.

The leisure entrepreneur said: “It’s the best use for the site that we can see.”

He added he was hoping for independent businesses to move into the space and that they would be in-keeping with the general spirit of Church Street.

Coun Carol Taylor, who is backing regeneration in the Church Street area, said she would be pleased to see new business move into the old facility. “I think it would be brilliant,” she said.
