Boston has been chosen to feature in a series of books about life in towns and cities across the United Kingdom during the First World War.

Boston has been chosen to feature in a series of books about life in towns and cities across the United Kingdom during the First World War.

Mark Green, 44, writes historical articles for a magazine in Barnsley and has been commissioned by Pen and Sword Books, military history and nostalgia book publishers, to write a book, Boston in the Great War.

Boston played a key role in the First World War, particularly due to the port of Boston welcoming prisoners of war home after release.

Mark Green is asking the people of Boston to come forward with any stories, pictures or family memories from living in Boston during the First World War.

Information could be from civilians, fishermen, Navy and RAF officers, or the Home Front and Merchant Navy.

Mark Green wants stories, no matter how big or small. Mark said: “You might think stories are irrelevant, but to me they are not.”

“All the stories are pieces which make up a big jigsaw.”

Standard readers can send stories and pictures by email to green_mark@hotmail.com or by calling 01206 280616.

The closing date to receive information is by the end of November.
