Boston and District Athletic Club has been saved from the brink of possible closure thanks to help from a borough business.
Rolec Services, based in Ralph’s Lane, Frampton, stepped forward in the club’s hour of need to give it the significant short-term funding and business expertise it needed to remain open.
The athletic club, which was formed in the year 2000 and has since helped hundreds of local people keep active, now needs other business to come forward and has a range of support packages available.
Peter Arnott, development officer for the athletic club, said: “It is absolutely fantastic that Rolec Services, a local business, has come to our aid when everything looked so bleak.
“Thanks to Rolec we have been able to keep running for now - but without the company’s help it would have been a very different story.”
Rolec’s business development manager Bianca Orrey has also agreed to help the club by becoming a committee member.
Kieron Alsop, Rolec’s Managing Director, said: “We were delighted to be able to assist the club in any way we could.
“It is such a great community group which helps local people of all ages stay active and keep healthy.
“I would encourage any other businesses who think they can help to do so.”
Rolec was established in 1990 and employs more than 100 people and is a specialist in services to the marina industry.
The company is also one of only a few globally which specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of outdoor and indoor electrical connection, hook-up and distribution equipment.
Chris Cook Print & Office Supplies and The Standard are also helping the Athletic Club – watch out for future features over the next three weeks.
