A Boston-area grocery company has appeared in the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 league table for rapidly growing businesses.
JDM Food Group, of Bicker, was established in 2000 dealing with garlic and later ginger products. But following their rapid growth, they now supply more than 250 food manufacturing sites - and are a leading supplier to Tesco of garlic, ginger, sweet potatoes and butternut squash.
Over the last three years, JDM has seen its sales rise 54 per cent, taking their turnover to £30 million per anum meaning that they are now one of the fastest growing private firms in the country.
It has also been recognised by The Grocer magazine as the third fasted growing grocery company of 2013.
A spokesman for the company said they were ‘thrilled’ to be included in the Sunday Times list, adding: “As a business JDM draws on its team’s wealth of expertise and market intelligence to help customers stay ahead of the curve. By staying close to the food trends, JDM are able to deliver unique and bespoke food solutions though to new value added preparation techniques such as; Sunbaked, Sweetfire and Sweetflamed tomatoes or peppers. From drizzles and dressings to pizza toppings it is likely that you have consumed a product containing one of their many ingredients.”
The company is now looking forward to a busy 2014 with several dates already in the diary for trade show exhibitions, including Fruit Logistica 2014 in Berlin and PLMA 2014 in Amsterdam.
