The team at agency William H Brown expects high levels of demand from buyers following a recent announcement that the Government’s Help to Buy scheme will now be available for all properties.
Launched earlier this year, Help to Buy is designed to help buyers get onto or move up the property ladder.
The second part of the scheme applies to all properties worth up to £600,000, enabling buyers to purchase with only a five per cent deposit. William H Brown says the recent announcement that the scheme will now be available for all properties, which was not expected until January 2014, is great news for home buyers and sellers with major lenders already showing interest in providing mortgages to buyers using the scheme.
“Since launching earlier this year, Help to Buy has played a key role in stimulating the housing market but more importantly, it is now going to have an even bigger impact on buyers either trying to step onto or move up the property ladder,” says Adam Woodthorpe, a branch manager with William H Brown.
“This latest announcement on Help to Buy scheme is fantastic news for home owners looking to sell their property,” Adam continues. “If the popularity of the first stage of the scheme for new homes is anything to go by, there will now be a flurry of buyers looking to use Help to Buy to purchase a home in the coming months.”
Some major lenders have already agreed to offer loans for Help to Buy with more expected to follow.
“In light of the increased availability of Help to Buy, I would urge anyone who is thinking of selling their home to put it on the market as soon as possible,” advises Adam. “With Help to Buy being available not only to first-time buyers but also home movers, there are likely to be a lot more buyers entering the market as a consequence of this scheme. Sellers can take advantage of this if they act fast.”
