Readers can now enjoy their fix of news from in and around Boston using the latest technology – thanks to our new app for tablet computers.
The app – which is completely free to download and use – is the first of its kind for a newspaper in Lincolnshire and one of the first for a weekly title in the country.
The app takes The Standard onto an exciting new platform to accompany the traditional weekly print format and expanding website – which publishes stories seven days a week.
It is available for the iPad, Android tablet devices and the Kindle Fire – meaning it’s perfect to download on your new Christmas gadget.
The app will bring you all of the latest news, sport, views and entertainment – all in a new easy-to-read format with seven content channels that are regularly updated.
More than 150 people downloaded the app onto their iPads in the first week alone, with many more also getting it for their Android and Kindle Fire devices.

“We had a really exciting year in 2012, marking the twin national celebrations of the Olympics and Queen’s Diamond Jubilee alongside our own centenary at The Standard so it’s great to be able to start 2013 by launching our app.

As well as all of the great content you already get from our website, there will also be exclusive content especially for the app and we’re keen to hear what you would like to see on there.
