Construction work has begun on the new St Botolph’s footbridge which arrived in town on Sunday, accompanied by a police escort and carried on three flat bed lorries.

The bridge has been built in Leeds, painted in Scunthorpe and came to town via Newark.

In the picture gallery above are photographs taken by Standard photographer David Dawson, reporter Daniel Jaines and readers Paul King and Don Robbie taken between Sunday and Tuesday.
