Two eateries in the Boston area have been recognised for great food and service in the East Midlands Food and Drink Awards.
Two very different venues were celebrating last weekend after they were selected as victors in the awards, with Supreme Inns taking the prize for best hotel restaurant, and The Wheatsheaf, at Hubberts Bridge, praised for having the best chef.
The two sites were also highly commended in a number of other categories.
Alan Hall, who runs The Wheatsheaf with his sister, mum and dad, told The Standard: “We were quite proud just to get nominated.
“To be put up for it was something else and to get something was out of this world.
“We were hopeful but we didn’t expect the little old Wheatsheaf to get anything. We’re over the moon.
“It’s a team effort. All the staff are all one big team and everyone has helped towards the success of the pub.”
It is the first time the pub has won an award like this, though it has been highly commended on several occasions.
Alan said the staff are not ‘resting on their laurels’ and plan to keep building on their success.
The Supreme Inns, at Bicker Bar, was also delighted to have picked up an award.
The winners were voted for by members of the public.
