Cutting energy bills ghgh

PEOPLE in Boston who were worried about paying their fuel bills got the chance to speak to advisers from the town’s Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB) about saving money this weekend, when the Big Energy Week came to the town.

According to figures from the event organisers, 42 per cent of people in the East Midlands are worried they will not be able to pay their next energy bill, and the CAB manager Stuart Hellon, volunteer Sue Fidler and deputy manager Yvonne Robinson were on hand to offer advice on how to combat the problems faced.

Gillian Guy, chief executive of the CAB, said: “We’re worried that some people are struggling unnecessarily because they’re not on the best deal; live in homes that haemorrhage heat or are not getting all of the financial help available to them.”

I and my partner live in an apartment with one bedroom. We do not have gas. Even have electric heating. Electricity bills are higher than £200 per month (weekly spend £ 50 we have prepayment plan). Many times we were looking for help in this matter. In vain. We have a child. Do not get help with housing benefit or council tax benefit. Income from work allows us to survive from week to week. Like a year ago also this winter we are afraid for our high bills for electricity. Many of our friends surprise that these bills are so high. £200 per month for electricity is a lot or not?

The price of energy is a national disgrace. When will the Government admit that its energy policies are doomed? Are you disillusioned by rising electricity prices, over dependence on the "green" dream [especially uneconomical and inefficient wind farms] and the plight of the elderly then please register your objection by googling "petition 22958" and following the link. Please pass this message on to Councillors, members of your community and anyone else you know to persuade them to sign up too.
