Dealership brings new borough jobs

MORE jobs are to be created in the borough after a new tractor dealership was approved.

The John Deere dealership was approved by Boston Borough Council’s planning board last week.

Councillors said they welcomed the economic boost for the site, which is off Station Road in Swineshead.

At the committee meeting last Tuesday, agent Robbie Longstaff said that site complied perfectly with the strict conditions John Deere laid down for its dealerships and added that the development would create additional jobs for people in the Boston area.

Members supported the application unanimously, with Coun Mike Brookes, who represents Swineshead, saying: “It’s good for Swineshead and the borough from an economic development point of view. I can’t see any reason not to support it.”

Planning colleague Alan Lee described it as ‘a wonderful opportunity’, adding that he welcomed this type of development as farmers were currently forced to complete a long journey to obtain such supplies.

Concerns were raised, however, about the height of a proposed mast and the impact it would have on nearby properties. These issues are to be tackled before development.
