AN INITIATIVE to bring West End production values and star names to Boston has been launched.
Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre is appealing for sponsorship from businesses to help attract West End-style productions to the town, without charging audiences West End-style prices.
In return, businesses will receive high-level publicity, with a board in the foyer for a year and space in the brochure and on other promotional material.
The sponsorship would help the theatre overcome the constraints of its 229-seat capacity and already a production of Carmen, featuring a full orchestra, has been secured for the autumn.
Theatre director Mike Raymond said: “We are doing well. We are holding our own in a very tough world at the moment, but we are trying to improve everything for the town’s benefit because the town deserves a really good theatre here.”
