A major employer in the Boston area has been giving back to the community with a number of initiatives.
Produce World in Butterwick, which grows cauliflowers, broccoli, cabbages and Brussel sprouts, has been supporting The Evergreens, Boston Mayflower’s supported housing unit, in School Lane, Butterwick, by giving residents a number of vegetable boxes.
Evergreens warden Debbie Fletcher said: “We hope this supply of veg boxes can continue. We are very grateful to Produce World for the fresh produce and hope to use them as raffle prizes at fundraising events and also as part of our monthly hot food days.”
It is hoped the company can supply each resident with a vegetable box once a month and further boxes will be given as raffle prizes.
Member of the senior team at P.W. Butterwick Jacky Gray said: “If we can contribute to the well-being of the residents through donating our produce, it will make this project very worthwhile. We are also looking into other opportunities for us to help the residents.”
It is hoped to continue its support of the community by taking part in events such as the Big Boston Clean Up.
