PRSA does not meet my definition of a white elephant but I doubt anything will change Observer’s prejudiced views expressed here last week.

With more than 1,000 gym members, a thriving rugby club, an indoor hall full every evening with a range of activities, the PRSA has never been busier or better value for money.

More importantly perhaps are the many disabled sessions providing an invaluable and unique service to many severely disabled people that cannot currently be replicated elsewhere in the area.

As for privatisation, the current PRSA set up gives the most efficient and effective operation possible now being copied by many other authorities.

It gives you local ownership with the main cost the result of a national tender to be the commercial operator.
