New, ethical trade position at food firm

A food manufacturer in Boston has introduced a new, ethical trade-based position at its site in the town.

Freshtime has appointed Richard Fletcher to the role of ethical trade officer at its base in Marsh Lane,

Originally from Boston, Richard previously worked for quilt and pillow-makers Fogarty in the town in a variety of roles since leaving school, spotting the vacancy at Freshtime while working as a quality and compliance manager there.

Sine joining Freshtime, Richard been out meeting and talking to suppliers to understand the challenges they face. In November, he is due to undertake an intense five-day training course to become a quality social systems auditor, which will equip him with the skills needed to work more closely with suppliers on the social systems they have in place.

Of the appointment, Freshtime managing director Mark Newton said: “We’re committed to doing the right thing in everything we do as a company and like to set an example to all of our partners and suppliers to ensure they share the same beliefs and values.”
