The former Wickes building in Boston is set for a new lease of life as a supermarket.

Boston Supermarket is to open in the George Street unit next month.

Work has been taking place at the site throughout the summer, with signage for the new enterprise appearing in recent days.

Manager Harem Ali said he and his father Bakhtyar, who is director, have been running similar businesses in Wakefield, but moved to Boston to expand their operation.

The supermarket has a sales area of 1,600 sq m and will have a mix of English and European products and a bakery and deli counter offering fresh goods, Mr Ali said.

There are also plans in place for the sale of alcohol.

He said the business is looking to have up to 25 employees and recruitment is already underway.

A grand opening with the Mayor of Boston is to take place at a date to be confirmed.
