A young business owner from Boston was treated to a glittering night in London brushing shoulders with the likes of Richard Branson and Boris Johnson.

Couple Tara Bulloch and Chris Gregg, who own Out of the Cage pet shop in Wormgate, won a ticket to the prestigious Institude of Directors (IoD) annual convention at the Royal Albert Hall.

The pair had to submit a photo that summed up their business, but was not the premises or the business logo.

They sent a photo of a baby rat and were one of just 10 independent businesses around the UK to win a ticket.

“The ticket was only for one of us so I went down to London on my own,” said Tara. “It was very daunting but a great experience and I was able to pick up some really useful business tips at the event.”

Out of the Cage pet shop opened in April with the help of Dragon’s Den entrepreneur James Caan’s Start-Up Loans scheme.
