Businesses and health services had difficulties receiving external calls this morning due to a problem with BT’s software.
Problems with the lines meant people were finding it difficult to make calls, with Boston Borough Council and other services taking to social networks such as Facebook and Twitter to let customers know.
NHS Lincs East tweeted: “Problems reported with phone lines in Boston affecting some GP surgeries & Boston Pilgrim. Working with BT to resolve asap.”
A spokesman for BT said the company became aware at 12.15pm and engineers restored full service at 1.30pm.
“We had a software problem at the exchange which did affect incoming calls only for some people in the area.”
