A Boston-area lawn care franchise is under new ownership after an entrepreneur from the town chose to invest in its ‘growing’ operation.

Robert Grant, 39, is the new owner of TruGreen Professional LawnCare South Lincolnshire.

TruGreen is the world’s largest lawn care company.

It started as a small private company in 1973 which was acquired by ServiceMaster in 1990.

Today, it serves more than 3.4 million residential and commercial customers throughout the UK and the USA.

The South Lincolnshire franchise was started in 2005 in Sleaford, but is now based in Leverton.

It currently serves more than 90 customers.

Mr Grant took ownership of the franchise earlier this month.

He brings with him approaching two decades’ experience in agriculture and a family history in farming.

Of the new venture, he said: “South Lincolnshire is a large area and offers a fantastic opportunity to grow the business.”

Mr Grant said he plans to add ‘many more customers’ throughout the year and also hopes to be in a position to take on local staff this time next year.

He continued: “I’m buoyed by the support from TruGreen and the ServiceMaster franchise team and I know the future will certainly be rosy.”

TruGreen brand operations manager and former Football Association groundsman of the Year Steve Welch said: “Robert’s technical knowledge of growing turf is excellent and customers in his care are in very good hands.

“In 2015, TruGreen’s revenue was up 27 per cent on the previous year and we are seeing record level customer numbers all across the UK.

“I am confident that Robert has a very successful future ahead of him with TruGreen.”
