PILGRIM Hospital has been running a normal service today, despite disruption because of public sector strikes, according to a hospital spokesman.
Staff and healthcare workers from a number of departments set up a picket outside the Sibsey Road hospital this morning, as part of the national protest against proposed changes to the pension system.
Earlier in the week the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust said it would try to keep disruption to a minimum and carry out as few cancellations as possible.
A spokesman for the trust said: “There was no disruption to service overnight due to industrial action.
“By and large we are running a normal service today. There are areas in which staff are on strike but we planned for this accordingly.
“We are experiencing some bed pressures but this is largely down to it being a busy time of year.
“We are monitoring the situation closely as the day progresses.
“Patients should attend appointments as planned unless they are told otherwise.”
