A five-star adult’s only caravan and camping park near Boston has been honoured at an awards event held by the AA.

Long Acres Touring Park, in Station Road, Old Leake, was among the businesses to attend the AA Caravan and Camping Awards 2016 lunch, held recently at the Aztec Hotel in Bristol.

The event was held to celebrate the achievements of winners in this year’s AA Caravan and Camping Awards.

In December, it was announced Long Acres Touring Park had won Small Campsite of the Year in the scheme.

It followed a coveted Gold Pennant award from the AA earlier in the year - given, the AA says, to the ‘very best camping parks’.

John Plant, who runs the site with wife Tracey, said: “We are delighted that our hard work has been rewarded with such a prestigious award from the AA.”

A spokesman for the AA said: “The hands-on owners are to be commended for transforming the long patch of land behind their property into a stunning park, one that deserves its new Gold Pennant status and the accolade of Small Campsite of the Year.”

The awards lunch also marked the official launch of the AA Caravan and Camping Guide, now in its 48th year.

The guide has details of more than 900 fully inspected and independently graded camping parks – including Long Acres – across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
