Villages selected for broadband pilot

WRANGLE and Old Leake could be selected as the location for a pilot scheme looking into bringing super-fast broadband to the Boston area.

The rural council ward is one of three areas in Lincolnshire which are being considered for the pilot, which can go ahead if private broadband providers, such as BT and Virgin Media, do not plan to provide the infrastructure themselves.

Lincolnshire County Council has launched a consultation exercise asking these businesses about their plans for provision and residents and businesses in Old Leake and Wrangle are being urged to take part in the consultation.

If successful, the pilot will run for about 18 months, increasing access to super-fast broadband, providing opportunites for local suppliers and increasing demand for their services.
