Traffic through New York was delayed last night following a collision which resulted in a car being ‘melted’ into the road.
A police spokesman said that emergency services were called to the scene on Langrick Road, following a collision between a silver Ford Fiesta, driven by a man from Horncastle and a blue Vauxwagon Polo driven by a a man from Algakirk.
There were no injuries, however, the resulting fire melted one of the vehicles in to the road and highways had to be called out to close the road while it was cleared.
Lincs RPU tweeted last: “Road closures at New York Langrick road - the vehicle is melted in to the tarmac so once removed the road will need to be mended.
They added: “Diversions will be in place soon while this is done so please avoid.”
It is unclear as to the current state of the road.
