LISTEN to the magic of your favourite operas at Blackfriars Theatre on Tuesday with Heritage Opera.
Four singers, Serenna Wagner (English National Opera), Sarah Helsby Hughes (D'Oyly Carte, Opera Ireland), Nicholas Sales (Royal Opera House, English National Opera) and Nick Beever (Royal National College of Music) will be performing semi-staged, costumed scenes from various operas.
They will be supported in their performance at Boston’s Spain Lane venue by pianist Jonathan Laird.
It will include selections from Carmen (including The Habanera, The Flower Song and Toreador), La Boheme, Rigoletto and La Traviata.
This is the group’s first visit to Lincolnshire before they return in November with their production of Carmen, accompanied by the Heritage Opera Ensemble.
Artistic director Sarah Helsby Hughes said: “We like to present opera's most famous tunes in context, so that the audience can get an idea of why Carmen sings the Habanera, or what happens after Rodolpho tells Mimi that her tiny hand is frozen.
“I hope the Boston audience really enjoys what we have to offer, as we are really excited to be visiting, and hope to make it a regular stop on our tours.
“I think this approach is much more absorbing and interesting, and reminds audiences that opera is so much more than just singing.”
Show starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets £16 (£14 conc). To book call 01205 363108.
