Carrington canine fun day in aid of the Guide Dogs Association

A FUN day in aid of the Guide Dogs Association is taking place in Carrington on Sunday.

The event begins at The Beeches, in Beech Lane, with a ‘go walkies’ 4.2-mile fundraising walk at 10.30am (registration 10.15am). The walk will be followed by refreshments and a picnic at noon. Visitors must bring their own picnic supplies.

At 1pm there will be a dog show, with a variety of classes, including fancy dress, novelty, and pedigree classes.

There will also be a number of children’s activities, pony rides and trade stalls followed by a barbecue and live music from about 5pm.

Organsier Alison Taylor said: “It’s a fun day for all the family and there are lots of ways people can get involved – sign up with your own dog, borrow a dog, or even dress up as a dog and get sponsored as your doggy alias.”

She added: “I’ve chosen to support Guide Dogs by organising this event because I think the life-changing independence their work gives to thousands of blind and partially-sighted people is amazing.”
