This is the final call for two lucky people to have the chance to take to the skies in a Lancaster bomber - in what is being deemed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby has teamed up with the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum to offer the incredible prize.
Money raised from the raffle is set to help the centre’s very own Lancaster Just Jane take to the skies.
Organiser Andrew Panton, from the Spilsby-area heritage centre, said: “This will be a 20-minute flight, taking off from RAF Coningsby. As there are just two Lancasters that can fly left in the world - one in Canada and the other at RAF Coningsby, this chance may never happen again.
“Lancasters were originally built for seven crew. They are a bit cramped inside but for the prize there will be a crew of just four or five.”
The Canadian plane is currently on a two-month tour in the UK and the first and second raffle prize winners will board this plane, flying alongside the Lancaster from RAF Coningsby.
Money raised from the raffle will go towards the restoration of Just Jane, the Avro Lancaster Bomber based at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. The ultimate ambition is to restore the bomber, which is currently used for ‘taxy’ rides, to an airworthy condition. The two top prizes in the raffle will also involve flying over Just Jane.
Anybody wanting to take part in the raffle will need to get in quick. The raffle will be drawn tomorrow (Thursday) and tickets can only be bought online.
Prizes are weather dependent and winners will need to make their own way to RAF Coningsby for the flight on September 2.
Tickets cost £5 and can be bought online at http://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/store/event-tickets/air-shows-and-special-events/lancaster-crew-flight-raffle.htm
