A charity day planned in memory of a father of who died of a heart attack raised more than £500 for the British Heart Foundation.

Children at Old Leake Primary School ‘rocked up in red’ on February 1, and businesses in the village also got involved.

Events were organised by Rachel Stow, who lost her husband Darren in 2011.

She said: “I’m elated. I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of everybody.”

This was the first fundraising event which Rachel had attempted, but she said plans were already in place for more later in the year.
