Charity helps in the fight against crime

As Crimestoppers celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, the charity says the results highlight its continuing influence in the fight against crime.

With a five per cent increase in actionable information passed on to law enforcement agencies nationally, the regional results mirror the national picture.

Kiran Dhanda, Lincolnshire regional manager for Crimestoppers, said: “To have results like this in Crimestoppers’ 25th year is a really positive result for Lincolnshire and I am delighted for the charity and the local community.”

This year there were over 7,000 arrest and charges, bringing the total since 1988 to over 122,000. Some £65 million worth of drugs was also seized, bringing the total over 25 years to £299 million.

Community Inspector Dave Rimmer added: “Although we encourage the community to talk to us about crime and we hold regular engagement events to make it easier for the public to get to know their local officers, we appreciate that some people may prefer to pass on information anonymously.”
