THE new Mayor of Boston officially took on his new role this week at a meeting attended by the full council.
Coun Colin Brotherton took the mayoral chains from the role’s former incumbent Coun Mary Wright at the mayor making ceremony held at the Municipal Buildings on Monday.
The Kirton councillor will be joined in the role by his sister Kate Wainwright, who will take on the role of mayoress. Deputy mayor and mayoress will be Coun Alan Lee and his wife Jill.
At the ceremony on Monday, the 478th Mayor of Boston, said: “I think I’ve drawn a lucky year with The Queen’s diamond jubilee, the Olympics and the Paralympics,”
The new mayor’s scout is Holly Morgan and the new mayoress’s guide is Sarah Gosling
